Oggi nell’era dei computer, carta e matita possono quasi essere considerati anacronistici, ed è proprio per questo che l’artista li usa cosi intensamente. Una vecchia carta ingiallita viene accartocciata a forma di palla e poi disegnata minuziosamente da diverse prospettive. Dietro la palla di carta, un grande spazio bianco si apre come un nulla indeterminato, permettendo alla stessa di respirare, creando uno palcoscenico. Il posizionamento nella parte inferiore del foglio fa pensare alla caduta, al volo nello spazio e nel tempo, i fogli ci minacciano come il pericolo di un meteorite.

Karin Schmuck ha studiato pittura a Urbino e fotografia a Bologna. Numerose mostre in Italia e all’estero, così come lunghi soggiorni di studio e lavoro in Tanzania, Perù, Spagna e Marocco. Vive e lavora a Siusi e Bologna.
